Translation required
There is no one who can speak english at my school (including my teachers) and my text book is all in Japanese. I was wondering if someone could help me translate this one line from a 本文:
最後に出てきたお菓子は意外と小さかったが、綺麗な箱や紙を集めて満足した。
Is he saying how the last sweet in the box was smaller than he expected but he was content because he had collected [the] beautiful packaging from the previous sweets?

Yes, I think you've got the right idea. When translating from Japanese to English, I don't think it's necessary to do a perfect translation for all but the most basic sentences until you are very advanced in your studies; it simply takes too much time, and that time is better spent learning new vocabulary, grammar, etc.
